Leith Links Community Council in new national showcase & case study

Following on from our Community Councils success in being the only Edinburgh area Community Council to generate enough interest to require an election in Autumn 2016, the Improvement Service has featured our efforts in a new online showcase.

A video featuring Community Councilors Abu, Chrissie, John and Michael has went online along with a written case study.

It is excellent news that our efforts have been recognised and our experiences shared with other Community Councils.

Remembering Leith Theatre, Thursday 16th February 2-4pm, Thomas Morton Hall

Do you remember Leith Theatre? A new memory project has been set up jointly delivered by Leith Theatre Trust and Citadel Arts Group. They’re collecting memories of Leith Theatre to create a display and to put into a book of memories. The project is supported by £eith Decides and the Robertson Trust.

The first meeting will be in the Thomas Morton Hall (behind Leith Library, 28 Ferry Road) on Thursday 16th Feb 2-4pm. Katharine Taylor of Leith Theatre Trust will make a short presentation and then we’ll start to share stories and memories of the theatre and the varied events held there. Refreshments will be served.

Please come along just to listen or share your own stories and memories. If you can’t make the meeting on 16th Feb but have stories to share, please let us know and we can arrange to meet you at another time and place if that’s easier for you.

All the best
Liz

Greener Leith – Children’s Orchard pruning event

Greener Leith is having a pruning event at the Children’s Orchard on Sat 4th Feb from 10:30am to 12.30pm with Ben Dell from Edinburgh Botanical Gardens. This is a great opportunity for those who want to get some hands-on experience in pruning and learn from an expert, so please do come along if you are interested. There will be a general litter clean-up and mulching to be done as well, so activities for everyone even if you are not interested in pruning.

Greener Leith will provide all tools and equipment, but if you have your own secateurs, please do bring them along. We will be providing soup and sandwiches as a reward for braving the cold!
