Earlier this evening Leith Links Community Council submitted a further representation to City of Edinburgh Council regarding its Spaces for People programme.
The submission to City of Edinburgh Councils Transport and Environment Committee, and Leith Ward Councillors Booth, McVey and Munro has been made ahead of its meeting due to be held on Thursday 12 November 2020 from 10am. Commenting on the submission Community Councillor Sally Millar said;
It does not seem right that decisions are being made about our area without consulting local people. And if the council really has monitored traffic and done impact assessments, then where are the data?

The City of Edinburgh Council, with support from Sustrans Scotland, is introducing temporary measures to protect public health and support physical distancing. These measures will make it easier and safer for people to get around our streets for essential journeys and exercise.
Using their online tool citizens can submit suggestions on their interactive map, and others can show their support for any suggestions. Of course, additional feedback can still be submitted to your local Councillors – Booth, McVey & Munro or by emailing Council officers at email@example.com.

On 29 April 2020 we let you know about the partial closure of Links Gardens as part of the City of Edinburgh Council response to the current Covid-19 national health crisis.
In the comments below please tell us what your views are on this specific road closure.

- Telling us how you and / or the wider community benefit from the closure, or you feel you and / or the wider community are negatively impacted by the closure.
Leith Links Community Council will consider the feedback at our next meeting, due to be held on Monday 25 May 2020 at 18:30 on Zoom. Further details will be published on our website.

City of Edinburgh Council have announced the closure of Links Gardens, from Gladstone Place to Links Gardens Lanes from 30 April until 21 May 2020.
The road has been closed by the local authority as part of its response to the current Covid-19 national health crisis. The road will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians and is part of efforts to improve the safety of those using the nearby Leith Links for exercise.
