Proposal of Application Notice – Land east of 139 Leith Walk

Another large scale development is being proposed for Leith Walk, this time on land at 139 Leith Walk.

The plans include – Refurbishment of the existing building, or potential demolition for sui generis flatted accommodation, class 7 hotel, student accommodation and commercial uses with associated footpaths, roads, landscaping and potential reconfiguration of existing car park.

The developer plans to hold a public engagement exercise in due course but in the meantime please find the documents provided to us below for your information.

 

Update 2/2/19: The Developer has now announced two drop in consultation events in MacDonald Road Library whereby interested parties can learn about their plans in more detail, ask any questions, raise any concerns and general give their views on the proposed development.

  • Monday 22 April 2019 from 14:00 to 19:00 in MacDonald Road Library
  • Tuesday 23 April 2019 from 12:00 to 17:00 in MacDonald Road Library

£EITH CHOOSES – last week for applications!

This is IT  – you have three days left to get your project grant application in to £EITH CHOOSES – the deadline is 31 January 7pm.

You can hand your completed form (plus accompanying bits and pieces in at one of the support sessions.  – check details of time and place here– if you’ve run out of time to post it. (If your form is held up at the last minute, let us know by the deadline and we can arrange to receive it somehow.)

Go for it!  The application forms are really not too deadly to fill in, and we can help you at a support session, if necessary.

Thing is – there is £116,000 available for community projects in Leith. This is an unprecedented sum. OK – everyone is busy and tired… but please, please, please don’t let this funding opportunity slip away, in case the money doesn’t come our way again….

Voting will be on 3rd March 2018, at the Community Centre, New Kirkgate. Hold the date!

SALAMANDER STREET NEW HOUSING PROPOSAL LINK GROUP

Link Group Ltd are holding a drop in event to view proposals for a new housing development on Salamander Street consisting of 199 homes for mid market rent.

The drop in will take place on:

Community Planning for People & Planet: Help set the environmental priorities for the North East Edinburgh Locality Improvement Plan 2017-22.

This is a chance for local people and community groups to have a say in determining the environmental priorities for the North East Edinburgh Locality Improvement Plan, which includes the Leith area.

Consultation on the future of the Scottish planning system

The Scottish Government are seeking the views of the people of Scotland on proposed changes to the planning system here in Scotland.

The consultation is open to anyone in Scotland to provide comment on, with a deadline of 4 April 2017.

Quiz the candidates | Leith Ward 13 election hustings

Leith Links Community Council has organised an election hustings so that local people can ask candidates standing in the City of Edinburgh Council elections what their opinion is on local important issues.

We don’t know who will be taking part yet as not all parties have selected their candidates but there is an open invitation to all parties & any independents who stand.
